Geography
State with total area 1, 95 sq km is located in North America, occupying its central part. It is bordered on the north and on the east by the United States, on the southeast by Belize and Guatemala. Mexico is washed by Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea on the east and by the Pacific Ocean on the west.

Climate

Currency
Mexico’s New Peso (MXP), is equal to 100 centavos. Notes are in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 pesos. Coins are in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 pesos and 5, 10, 20 and 50 centavos.
Banks are generally open weekdays 9 a.m. to 17:00 p.m. (a few are also open till 24:00 or 01:00), Saturdays 9 a.m. to 14:00 p.m., Sunday is not working day.
Some banks in pleasure resorts open weekdays 4 to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m and. Sundays 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Traveler's checks in U.S. dollars issued by well-known banks or travel organizations are accepted at many hotels and banks. American Express, Visa and MasterCard are accepted by many establishments and at many ATMs. Travelers should use only one credit card for expenses. Travelers to Mexico may only exchange currency at authorized banks.

Goods up to US$300
All foreign visitors bringing gifts to friends and relatives in Mexico should come prepared to demonstrate to Mexican customs the origin and the value of the gifts. Televisions, video cassette players, computers, bicycles or any electronic item valued at $50.00 U.S. currency or more must be declared to Mexican customs. Any foreign visitor carrying such items should enter the "Merchandise to Declare" lane at the first customs checkpoint. They should have the receipt for the gift's purchase and should be prepared to pay any assessed duty. Failure to do so may result in the seizure of the goods as contraband, plus the seizure of the vehicle in which the goods are traveling for attempted smuggling. The recovery 3.jpgof the seized vehicle involves the payment of substantial fines and attorney's fees.
Travelers may freely export alcohol and tobacco products.  Exportation of archaeological relics is prohibited

Transport
Speed limits can vary depending on terrain conditions. The speed limit in some cities is from 20 km/h and 110 km/h in expressways.  Most large roads are well paved. The expressways are, for the most part, toll roads or “cuota”. Non-toll roads are referred to as “libre”, free-roads).
The fillings stations meet often enough, but quality of petrol is lower than in Europe and USA, and unleaded petrol is rare.
It is a quite difficult to find car parking place in Mexico. No parking places are marked with the letter of "E", strikethrough line. Cars in no parking place will be tow off and to return it you will be required to pay a fine.
There is an environmental program, called Hoy No Circula ("Not To Run Today," or "One Day without a Car"), whereby only vehicles with certain ending numbers on their license plates are allowed to circulate on certain days, in an attempt to cut down on pollution and traffic congestion.
It is necessary to be careful during “rush hours” (7-9 morning, 13-15 and 17-19 evenings), and also on busy roads.

110/127 volts AC, 60Hz. American two-pin (flat) plugs are usual.

Store hours
Store hours are generally weekdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m-10 a.m. to 7 or 10 p.m. with a two-hour lunch break (siesta) from about 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday is non working day.

Tipping
In Mexico, tipping is very common and expected, but there are no fixed rules for the amount of the tip. If someone is providing an extra service or favor for you, a tip would be expected and welcome. The normal tip amount is 10% of the bill.

Sights
Merida is a beautiful city in the heart of the Yucatan with fantastic examples of Spanish colonial architecture and with the most ancient cathedrals in South America.

Chichén-Itzá
The ceremonial city of Chichén-Itzá was built over 1,000 years ago, but the Mayan magic still draws crowds. Each spring and autumn equinox, shadows show Kukulcan (the snake) working his way up the steps.
