Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean Sea, consists of three largest islands Malta 1.jpgIsland, Gozo, and Comino, which are inhabited and the smaller islands, such as Filfla, Cominotto and the Islands of St. Paul, which are uninhabited.
Malta located in 93 km south of Sicily, 230 km north of North Africa, 1826 km east of Gibraltar and 1510 km west of Alexandria.

Climate
Climate is warm and pleasant. There are no cold winds, fogs, snows and frost. Annual rainfall is low, averaging 585 mm a year. The average winter (November to April) temperature is 14 °С, the length of a day-6.5 hours. The average summer (May to October) temperature is 23 °С. The hottest months are between July and September, but the heat is tempered by cooling sea breezes.
Even in the middle of winter the sea temperature never drops below 14 degrees Celsius. In summer, the sea temperature averaging: in May 18°С, June 21.1 °С, July 24.5 °С, August 25.6 °С, September 25°С, October 22.2°С.

Shopping
Special purchases include Malta weave, pottery, blown glass, ceramics, dolls, lace, copper and brass items. Malta is renowned for its gold and silver filigree work and handmade lace.

Tipping
Tipping is not a custom in Malta; however, in certain circumstances, it is expected, for example, when showing appreciation for restaurant and hotel staff. 10-15% is considered the nominal amount. Cab drivers do not expect to receive a tip. Gratuities are also welcomed at some of the religious and archaeological sites around the islands.
